Jini debuted as a member of girl group NMIXX in 2022 under JYP Entertainment.

JYP Entertainment announced in December 2022 that they will end her exclusive contract with the agency and leave NMIXX due to "personal reasons." 

Jini, whose real name is Choi Yun-jin, went by the stage name Jinni during her time at JYP Entertainment. She announced that she would be changing her stage name to Jini, and signed her exclusive contract with newborn agency United Artist Production, UAP, in April 2023.

Jini will drop her first solo EP "An Iron Hand In A Velvet Glove" on Oct. 11.
