Seo Yea-ji debuted in 2013 through tvN sitcom "Potato Star 2013QR3." She landed her first role in a film in 2015 through "The Throne." The actor has since starred in seven more films and 11 drama series. Her breakthrough role was as a children's book writer with an antisocial personality disorder, in 2020 tvN series "It's Okay to Not be Okay." The show saw not only local but also global success as it was nominated for the 2021 International Emmy Awards in the TV Movie/Mini-Series category and was named in The Best International Shows of 2020 by the New York Times. In April 2021, Seo was belatedly embroiled in a controversy for which she was accused of gaslighting her then actor boyfriend — Kim Jung-hyun — leading her to take a break for one year and two months. She ended her hiatus and returned to the small screen through tvN series "Eve," in June 2022.
