TREASURE debuted in February 2020 as the fourth boy band from YG Entertainment.

The band debuted through an audition program aired on JTBC2, titled "YG Treasure Box," in 2018. The agency initially planned to debut two bands — as it did with boy bands Winner and iKON in 2013 — named Treasure and Magnum. But it decided later to roll out just one band with 12 members.

Having debuted during the Covid-19 pandemic, TREASURE had a slow start to popularity than anticipated by critics or the press. Yet, it climbed up the music charts with high-quality music and choreography previously not seen in YG boy bands. The band has focused on strong-beat hip-hop style dance tracks since its debut with "BOY" (2020), followed by "I LOVE YOU" (2020), "MMM" (2020) and "JIKJIN" (2022).

TREASURE currently consists of 10 members: Choi Hyun-suk, Jihoon, Yoshi, Junkyu, Yoon Jae-hyuk, Asahi, Haruto, Doyoung, Park Jeong-woo and So Jung-hwan. Members Mashiho and Bang Ye-dam left the band in November 2022.

What was the show "YG Treasure Box"?

"YG Treasure Box" was an audition program produced jointly by YG Entertainment and JTBC. The show aired on JTBC and was streamed online on Naver V Live. A total of 29 hopefuls vied for a slot to be among the band's members during the 10-episode show. Finalists Haruto, Bang Ye-dam, Kim Jun-kyu, So Jung-hwan, Park Jeong-woo and Yoon Jae-hyuk were chosen to debut under the band name Treasure, but YG Entertainment later formed another group named Magnum, with six members — Ha Yoonbin, Choi Hyun-suk, Mashiho, Do-young, Yoshi, Park Ji-hoon and Asahi — due to fans' avid wishes. Ha dropped out, and the band eventually debuted with 12 members.

What is Treasure's concept?

The band aims for a powerful hip-hop concept, iconic of YG artists, but with a touch of younger freshness. Is TREASURE well known?

TREASURE was hoped to be the biggest rookie of 2020 but was met with mixed reviews. The year was jam-packed with strong contenders — girl groups aespa, STAYC and Secret Number and boy bands Cravity, P1Harmony and Enhypen —making their debut a difficult one.
