Girl group Viviz debuted in February 2022 with the EP “Beam of Prism” under Big Planet Made and Swing Entertainment.
It consists of three members: SinB, Eunha and Umji. They were formerly members of the six-member girl group GFriend which was active from 2015 to 2021. The three of them reunited as Viviz after GFriend’s sudden disbandment.
Its fandom is dubbed Na.V, a play on the Korean word for butterfly (nabi).
Is Viviz a continuation of GFriend?
Because Viviz consists of three of the six members of GFriend, many K-pop fans naturally associate the trio with the former six-member girl group. However, Viviz has said it wishes to be considered a separate act.
“We regrouped thinking that Viviz is a new group rather than a continuation of GFriend,” Eunha said during a showcase in January 2023 for Viviz’s third EP, “VarioUS.”
“So I’m cautious of speaking as if our opinion represents GFriend.”
“As for now, each [of the former GFriend members] is doing their best in their own positions,” SinB added during the same event. “If we keep doing our own thing and enjoy, who knows? We might cross paths in the future.”
