INFORMATION

Girl group WJSN debuted with the EP “Would You Like?” in February 2016 under Starship Entertainment. It was initially jointly produced with the Chinese entertainment agency Yue Hua Entertainment.

The group debuted with 12 members: Exy, Seola, Bona, Soobin, Eunseo, Yeoreum, Dayoung, Luda, Dawon and three Chinese members Cheng Xiao, Meiqi and Xuanyi. Yeonjung, a former member of the girl group I.O.I formed through the Mnet audition show “Produce 101” (2016), joined in June 2016. The three Chinese members halted their activities in Korea in 2018 and have focused on activities in Mainland China ever since. They officially left the group in March 2023.

WJSN is best known for its hit “As You Wish” (2019), especially popular among Koreans on the first day of the new year. It has topped local music charts on New Year’s Day for four consecutive years since 2020.

The group also won first place on Mnet’s competition show “Queendom 2” (2022), which saw six girl K-pop acts compete against each other.

In March 2023, members Luda and Dawon left Starship Entertainment but not the group.

WJSN’s fandom is dubbed Ujung, the Korean term for “friendship” and an abbreviation of “space station,” carrying on with the group’s space theme.

The group is also known as Cosmic Girls.
