“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” topped the box office during the Children’s Day holiday from Friday to Sunday.

According to the Korea Box Office Information System (Kobis), the film saw over 1.26 million viewers over the weekend and now has an accumulated audience of 1.63 million people. The film premiered on May 3.

It sold 1 million tickets in three days, becoming the fastest film this year to hit the milestone.

“The Super Mario Bros. Movie” was the second most popular film during those three days, with 735,000 viewers, followed with “Shin Jigen! Crayon Shin-cahn The Movie” and “Dream.”

“Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3” picks up from where it left off six years ago in “Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2” when actor Chris Pratt’s character lost the love of his life. Still reeling from that loss, Pratt must rally his team one last time to defend the universe and protect one of their own.
