Exo's Kai tops iTunes Top Albums chart in 40 regions
Singer Kai of boy band Exo topped the iTunes Top Albums chart in 40 regions around the world with his latest solo album, "Rover."
Kai's third solo EP, released Monday, was No. 1 on the iTunes album chart in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Chile among others, according to SM Entertainment.
"Rover" also topped the daily albums chart on domestic album sales trackers Hanteo Chart and Circle Chart, as well as Chinese music charts including QQ Music.
"Rover" has six tracks — title track "Rover," "Black Mirror," "Slidin'," "Bomba," "Say You Love Me" and "Sinner" — that all show a side of Kai different from all his past music, according to a press release from the agency.
"I've always felt different things with every new album, but with this one, I particularly felt happier and excited rather than worried," Kai said.
"'Rover' is a powerful, yet cool song — perhaps even sexy. I always like to try new and fun thing, so there's nothing in common with 'Rover' with [past tracks] 'Mmmh' [2020] or 'Peaches' [2021]. I wish to keep showing different sides of myself."
Kai debuted as a member of Exo in 2012. The band is famous for hit songs like “Growl” (2013), “Monster” (2016) and “Don’t Mess Up My Tempo” (2018).
Kai completed his “Kai Japan Special Live 2023” tour in January, making stops in Nagoya, Osaka and Yokohama.
