Winner's Seungyoon teases his return as a solo artist
Seungyoon of boy band Winner, whose real name is Kang Seung-yoon, teased his return as a solo artist on Thursday.
His agency YG Entertainment posted a teaser poster on the band’s social media accounts. The black-and-white image shows the side of Seungyoon’s face with a date at the bottom: “2022.03.14 6PM.”
“If my first full-length album ‘Page’ focused on my personal stories, this time I’m going to immerse solely into music,” Seungyoon was quoted as saying by YG Entertainment.
“Page” was released almost a year ago, in March 2021 with the lead track “Iyah.”
Seungyoon became known to the public for auditioning in Mnet’s singing contest “Superstar K2” (2010). His cover of “Instinctively,” singer-songwriter Yoon Jong-shin’s 2010 song, became a No. 1 hit on local music charts at the time. He subsequently made his debut as member of Winner in 2014.
Seungyoon also goes by the name Yoon, as seen in songs that he has produced.
Winner debuted in 2014 with its first full-length album “2014 S/S.” The band currently consists of four members: Seungyoon, Mino, Hoony and Jinu. The band will hold a concert at Olympic Hall in Olympic Park, eastern Seoul for two days from April 30, titled “Winner 2022 Concert.”
