Actor Jung Joon-ho was appointed as co-director of the Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF).

According to the festival’s organizing committee, the actor has been voted to become a co-director along with Min Sung-wook, who served as the festival’s vice director up until now.

The two co-directors start their term from Thursday and will start organizing the upcoming 24th edition.

Their term lasts for three years.

Since its launch in 2000, it’s the first time the festival’s committee has appointed two directors to run the festival.

“The two co-directors were appointed to secure the festival’s identity and to appeal to a wider range of audiences,” the festival committee said. “We hope people anticipate the upcoming festival which will be run by our directors.”

JIFF is one of the three major international film festivals in Korea, along with the Busan International Film Festival and Bucheon International Film Festival.
