Billboard Korea to publish first issue of magazine along with industry Power 100 list
Billboard Korea will present the first issue of its magazine along with a list of the top 100 most influential individuals in the Korean music industry on Tuesday, the Korean branch of the U.S. music brand said Wednesday.
Billboard Korea will roll out its magazine “Billboard K Vol. 1" and the Billboard K Power 100 list during a celebratory event at The Shilla Seoul hotel in central Seoul, attended by industry insiders and stars, including Billboard CEO Mike Van, editorial director of Billboard Hannah Karp, Brazilian singer Luísa Sonza and Filipino band SB19.
The Korean branch of Billboard will also roll out an encyclopedia of Korean music artists in a book titled "Biographical Dictionary." It will be published in both Korean and English and will be renewed every year, according to Billboard Korea.
"We aim to take this opportunity to discover the next BTS in the home of pop music and also give a chance to Korean artists who have longed to take themselves to the global stage for years," Billboard Korea publisher and CEO Yuna Kim said in a press release.
The news comes four months after Billboard CEO Van and Billboard Korea CEO Kim announced Billboard Korea's inauguration in April this year. The two initially promised to issue the first copy of "Billboard K" in June but the release was pushed without prior notice.
