BTS member Jin will participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics torch relay as a torchbearer.

Jin is scheduled to depart for France soon to participate as a torchbearer in this year's Olympic Games, which will begin on July 26, according to music industry insiders.

Jin’s exact torch relay locations and schedule have not been disclosed as of Tuesday afternoon. The torch is located in Lille, a city in France, as of Tuesday.

A total of 11,000 people will participate in the torch relay. The torch was lit on April 16 in Greece at the Temple of Hera. It was first carried by French Olympic swimmer Florent Manaudou. It has since been passed on to subsequent torchbearers, including athletes such as Ivorian soccer player Didier Drogba and former NBA player Tony Parker. Civilians also have participated so far, including janitors and Nazi concentration camp survivors.

The 2024 Paris Olympics will begin on July 26 and close on Aug. 11. Korea will send up to 142 athletes in 21 sports categories, including archery, fencing, badminton and taekwondo.

Jin was the first member of BTS to successfully finish his military service on June 12. He held a fan meet and greet the next day where he hugged 1,000 fans as part of the annual BTS event “Festa.”
