Court rejects arrest warrant for doctor accused of supplying drugs to Lee Sun-kyun
An Incheon court rejected an arrest warrant for the doctor accused of supplying drugs to actor Lee Sun-kyun and singer G-Dragon.
Lee Kyu-hoon, a judge who presided over the hearing for an arrest warrant, said there were not enough grounds for the doctor's arrest given his "occupation and family relations."
The doctor is accused of providing drugs to Lee and others through the manager of a member-only club in Gangnam District, southern Seoul, which Lee reportedly frequented.
The police previously executed a search and seizure warrant at the doctor's home in Gangnam District and the hospital he operates. They secured various medical records and his vehicle.
The doctor is a plastic surgeon operating a hospital in Seoul that received a warning from the health authorities for excessively prescribing propofol in many cases this year.
He gained recognition from the public by appearing on television in the past.
The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency is currently investigating drug-related charges involving 10 individuals, including Lee, the doctor and singer G-Dragon, whose real name is Kwon Ji-yong.
Lee and Kwon tested negative for drug use in a series of drug tests.
