Four actors revealed to star in musical remake of 'Crash Landing On You'
Actors Lee Kyu-hyung, Min Woo-hyuk, Lee Yi-kyung and Tei will star in the upcoming musical remake of the hit tvN K-drama “Crash Landing On You” (2019-20), according to the actors' agencies on Tuesday.
Lee Kyu-hyung and Min will portray Ri Jeong-hyuk, a North Korean military officer. Lee Yi-kyung and Tei will portray Gu Seung-joon, a South Korean businessman and con artist with British nationality.
Lee Kyu-hyung debuted in the 2001 film "A Night of Shilla." He is currently starring in a musical titled "Fan Letter," set to end its run in mid-July.
Min debuted as a musical theater actor in 2013 through the show "March of the Youth." He has starred in various other musicals such as the Korean production of "Les Miserables," "Frankenstein" and "Wicked."
Lee Yi-kyung debuted in 2012 through the film "Midnight Sun." He has mostly worked on television, appearing on KBS's "Go Back Couple" (2021) and SBS's "My Love From The Star" (2013). "Crash Landing on You" will mark his return to the musical theater stage after six years since he starred in the Korean production of the musical "Altar Boyz."
Tei debuted as a radio DJ in 2007. He gained fame after becoming a finalist in TV audition program "Opera Star" in 2011. He has starred in musicals including "Signal" and the Korean production of "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder."
The musical version of “Crash Landing On You” will run from Sept. 16 to Nov. 13 at the Coex Shinhan Card Artium in Gangnam District, southern Seoul.
“Crash Landing On You” aired from December 2019 to February 2020. The romance drama told the story of a South Korean chaebol heiress, played by actor Son Ye-jin, and a North Korean military officer, portrayed by Hyun Bin, falling in love after the heiress accidentally lands in North Korea while paragliding.
The series was popular at the time and once again became the talk of the town when lead actors Son and Hyun Bin revealed last year that they were dating. The two got married in March and are currently expecting their first child.
The copyrights for the musical remake were signed over to Popmusic and T2N Media in March 2021.
