(G)I-DLE, Jennifer Lopez to release remix of 'This Time Around'
Girl group (G)I-DLE hit the floor with Jennifer Lopez to release a remixed version of the American pop icon’s “This Time Around” on Thursday.
“This Time Around (feat. (G)I-DLE)” hit streaming platforms at midnight on March 14.
The first two verses and choruses are sung by Lopez, and Soyeon of (G)I-DLE chimes in with the post-chorus. (G)I-DLE members Soyeon, Minnie, Yuqi and Miyeon completely take over in the third verse to sing the lyrics that are rewritten in a mixture of English and Korean.
Soyeon contributed in writing the topline of the song, according to the girl group’s agency Cube Entertainment in a press release on Friday.
She is credited as a co-composer and co-lyricist for the remixed version, which also includes Lopez, who was also involved in the production of the original song.
The original song was released on Feb. 16 as a track on Lopez’s studio album “This Is Me…Now.” The album was released alongside its accompanying film “This is Me…Now: A Love Story,” which was inspired by the rekindled romance between the pop singer and her now-husband Ben Affleck.
(G)I-DLE debuted in May 2018 with the EP “I AM.” The band consists of five members: Soyeon, Miyeon, Minnie, Yuqi and Shuhua, who has been on hiatus since February. The band released hit songs such as “Latata” (2018), “Tomboy” (2022), “Nxde” (2022) and “Queencard” (2023).
The group released its second full-length album, “2,” in January.
