Heritage agency to release merchandise, host cultural events to coincide with BTS's comeback
To coincide with BTS’s comeback album, “Arirang,” the Korea Heritage Agency will release merchandise and host a series of heritage-themed events, including a social media scavenger hunt, the agency said on Tuesday.
The agency will also open a pop-up store, Arirang the Palace, at both the National Palace Museum of Korea and Gyeongbok Palace in Jongno District, central Seoul, from Wednesday to April 24.
The Korea Heritage Agency is a government entity dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional Korean culture and heritage.
The pop-up stores will offer customers complimentary gifts, such as postcards, with every purchase and when they provide proof of having uploaded a social media post showing them at an agency-designated spot that blends Korean heritage and K-pop.
The online version of the pop-up will sell fidget toys inspired by seosusang, a Korean mythical animal resembling a lion that is said to bring good luck to those who rub its nose. Its statues are found in the Gwaghwamun area.
The store’s Instagram account, @k.heritage, will host a scavenger hunt in which participants can search for hidden merchandise scattered throughout the Gwanghwamun area by following clues posted on the account, the agency said.
More merchandise will be available in gift shops inside Changdeok Palace and Deoksu Palace in central Seoul. Customers can also visit a K-Heritage Store at Incheon International Airport.
