Hirokazu Kore-eda’s film 'Broker' sold to 171 countries
Hirokazu Kore-eda’s upcoming film “Broker” has been sold to 171 countries, said its distributor CJ ENM on Monday.
According to CJ ENM, the list of countries includes Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, the United States, Canada, France, Germany and Italy.
The film has a star-studded cast of actors such as Song Kang-ho, Gang Dong-won, Bae Doona and Lee Ji-eun (also known as singer IU). It tells the story of group of people who embark on a journey to find a new family for a baby who was found in a baby box, where babies can be anonymously dropped off to be cared for by others.
Kore-eda and the cast for "Broker" have been invited to compete for the Palme d’Or at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, which started on May 17 and will run until May 28.
“Broker” will hit Korean cinemas on June 8, and is slated for release in Japanese theaters on June 24 and French theaters in December.
