JTBC to launch audition show to form new vocal girl group
JTBC will launch a new girl vocal group audition show "Girls on Fire" early next year, the broadcasting network said Friday.
The show's name, "Girls on Fire," represents aspiring K-pop singers' strength and determination, embracing their unique style, JTBC said.
The production team was behind other JTBC audition shows, "Phantom Singer" (2016–) and "Super Band" (2019–2021).
The upcoming program will pay particular attention to potential girl group trainees' vocal skills, the company said, as it aims to form a vocal group.
Comedian Jang Do-yeon will be the show's sole host, a first for the comedian.
"I'm tall, but I'm still a 'baby' in the show industry," Jang said while visiting the audition hall. "I questioned myself if I am qualified enough to host such a big program as I am just a 'giant baby.' The program gave me the opportunity to look back on myself as a show host."
The audition show has been recruiting contestants since August. The recruitment will end on Jan. 14.
