Kiss of Life wants to 'Get Loud' with its third EP
Kiss of Life has returned with its third EP, "Lose Yourself," on Tuesday as the group explores an edgier early 2000s pop sound and more genres.
The versatile girl group's seven-track EP features the lead single "Get Loud,” which combines Latin guitar rhythms with hip-hop touches, and six other tracks — “R.E.M,” “Chemistry,” “Igloo,” “Too Many Alex,” “Back to Me” and “No One But Us.”
"We worked incredibly hard on this album to repay the overwhelming love we received for our previous release, 'Sticky,'" Natty said during a press showcase on Tuesday at Yes 24 Live Hall in Gwangjin District, eastern Seoul.
"We wanted to capture the essence of our most passionate moments as artists,” member Belle said. “Each song on this EP reflects the dedication we put into showcasing our unique charms."
"We've incorporated a wide range of genres to create a truly immersive listening experience," said member Haneul.
After performing "R.E.M.," group leader Julie explained that the song "has a dreamy atmosphere and explores the desire to stay in a state of slumber.”
In contrast, Belle said that, “'Igloo’ is a track that blends edgy sounds, rap and beautiful vocals.”
When asked about the album's theme of depicting the process of concentration as "losing oneself," Belle said, "I think the most historic moments for an artist happen when they're fully immersed in their work. That's exactly what we aimed to capture with this EP.”
"It's like being so engrossed in a drama that you can't hear anything else," Haneul added. "When you're completely focused on one thing, nothing else matters.”
Kiss of Life will kick off its first world tour “Kiss Road” with two performances on Oct. 26 and 27 in Seoul. The group will then go on to perform across North America — Minneapolis on Nov. 10, Chicago on Nov. 12, Toronto on Nov. 13, Montreal on Nov. 13, Boston on Nov. 16, New York on Nov. 22 and more.
"We're always surprised when fans from all over the world sing along to our songs," Julie said. "Even if they don't understand the lyrics, our choreography is so expressive that they can still connect with our messages."
Kiss of Life debuted in July 2023 with its first EP, "Kiss of Life." The group's name is inspired by artificial respiration, aiming to breathe "life into the K-pop scene."
