Martial arts director Jung Doo-hong to star in new 'John Wick' spinoff film
Martial arts director Jung Doo-hong will star in an upcoming film in the “John Wick” (2014-) action franchise.
Jung has already finished filming his part in the film “John Wick Presents: Ballerina,” according to movie industry insiders. His role in the film has yet to be revealed.
“John Wick Presents: Ballerina” is set for release on June 6, 2025. The film will deal with events between “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” (2019) and “John Wick: Chapter 4” (2023).
“John Wick Presents: Ballerina” is directed by Len Wiseman, who worked on the “Underworld” film series (2003-16) and directed “Live Free or Die Hard” (2007). “John Wick: Chapter 4” garnered approximately 1.92 million moviegoers in Korea last year, according to the Korea Box Office Information System (Kobis).
Jung has previously starred in the films “Arahan” (2004) and “The City of Violence” (2006) by director Ryoo Seung-wan.
Jung started his career in the Korean film industry as a stunt performer in the film “The General's Son” (1990). He made his debut as a martial arts director for the 1992 film “Lynx” (translated).
Jung coordinated action sequences in the Korean action blockbusters “The Berlin File” (2013) and “Veteran” (2015). Jung also participated as a stunt double for actor Lee Byung-hun in the film “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” (2013).
