NewJeans, Le Sserafim challenge Jungkook's dominance on Circle Chart [GLOBAL K-POP CHART]

Girl group NewJeans [ADOR]

Video game-related K-pop songs are hot on Circle Chart's Global K-pop chart.

Circle Chart's Global K-pop chart for the week of Nov. 19 saw "Gods" by NewJeans at No. 10, 19 seats higher than the previous week.

Le Sserafim's "Perfect Night" retained its position at No. 2.

"Gods," released on Oct. 4, was the anthem of this year's League of Legends World Championship.

The song gained popularity among fans of the video game for its storyline being based on Kim "Def" Hyuk-kyu's dramatic tournament victory last year. The song remained popular even after Kim was knocked out of the tournament this year.

"Gods" is also the first anthem for the tournament by a K-pop band.

Le Sserafim's English single "Perfect Night," which was released on Oct. 27 in collaboration with Blizzard Entertainment's online multiplayer shooter game Overwatch 2, kept its position at No. 2 this week.

The English track in the easy-listening genre is seeing widespread popularity in Korea and abroad. The song landed No. 1 on Melon's Top 100 real-time streaming chart, Melon's weekly chart and Circle Chart's weekly digital and streaming charts, all a first for an English track released by a K-pop girl group.

A "Holiday Remix" of the track, themed for the Christmas season, was also released on Nov. 23.

Jungkook of BTS [BIGHIT MUSIC]

The Global K-pop Chart, however, is still dominated by Jungkook, as his latest track "Standing Next to You" stayed at No. 1, followed by "3D (feat. Jack Harlow)" in third place, unchanged from last week. The two versions of "Seven (feat. Latto)" now sit at No. 5 and 6, each one position higher from last week and "Yes or No" sits at No. 11 this week.

"Standing Next to You" is also scoring well on Billboard Hot 100, as the song stayed on the chart for three weeks in a row, remaining at No. 76 for the week of Dec. 2.

The top 10 list is then further dominated by girl group songs, with aespa's "Drama" at No. 4, NewJeans's "Super Shy" at No. 7, IVE's "Baddie" at No. 9, with Stray Kids' "Rock-Star" being the only song on top 10 by a boy band.

Circle Chart's Global K-pop Chart combines streaming data from platforms worldwide, including Korean steaming services Melon, Genie, Flo, Bugs, Vibe and international streaming services Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube.
