Woodz wows fans with dynamic world tour concert
Woodz kicked off the Sunday concert of his "OO-LI and" encore world tour at 5 p.m. at the SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium.
The singer began with two B-side tracks, followed by his 2020 hit song "Love Me Harder".
Woodz's Sunday performance was almost identical, on paper, to his Saturday show, and to his original world tour date back in May.
What wasn’t on paper was Woodz’s well-known presence on the stage, which held the audience's attention for the duration of the concert.
Throughout the evening, Woodz constantly ran back and forth on the stage, trying to interact with as many fans as possible, posing in front of the camera, and singing "Drowning" with no background beats — all of which brought massive reactions from the audience.
Woodz performed “Amnesia," a yet-to-be released song that he first unveiled on Saturday's encore tour, which has since received overwhelmingly positive reactions from fans online.
“I might not release the song you know,” Woodz said. He was met with loud boos from the audience.
“Wow, this is the first time that I was met with such reactions at my concert […] I’ll release ‘Amnesia’ in the future,” he continued, this time met with loud and clear cheers of approval.
But audience interactions didn't overshadow his actual performance. Woodz, backed by a live band, sang 23 total tracks ranging from “I hate you,” a powerful rock tune, to the unreleased “love your lies," a softer ballad.
"I was saddened to think that my album gets consumed only around the time of release and fades away after a while," Woodz said, as he explained the motives behind his "OO-LI Project."
"OO-LI Project" began with the April release of Woodz's fifth EP, "OO-LI." A world tour of the same name began in May of this year; Woodz visited cities in Japan, Southeast Asia, and Brazil. "OO-LI" translates to 'us' or 'we' in Korean.
"I'm glad to be able to continue together under the title 'OO-LI'," Woodz said.
Following the two-day concert in Seoul, Woodz will continue his "OO-LI and" encore world tour through the end of 2023. He will revisit Japan and Bangkok, and will make new stops in cities including London, Paris, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, New York.
