SuperM to join Global Citizen in 'Recovery Plan for the World' campaign

SuperM [SM ENTERTAINMENT]

Project boy band SuperM announced Wednesday they will be joining Global Citizen in the “Recovery Plan for the World” campaign, the only Korean act to participate in the campaign.

The new campaign by Global Citizen, a New-York based international NGO that uses collective voice to end extreme poverty, is a movement to end Covid-19 and kick-start global recovery by encouraging action and raising funds.

Other big-name celebrities participating in the campaign include Billie Elish, Hugh Jackman, Coldplay, Miley Cyrus and Usher. Renowned figures include European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, President of France Emmanuel Macron, Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry.

Last April, SuperM participated in the World Health Organization (WHO)’s "Big Event for Mental Health" and joined the star-studded lineup for WHO and Global Citizen’s global benefit concert “One World: Together At Home.”

SuperM is made up of members from SM Entertainment’s biggest acts — Taemin of SHINee, Baekhyun and Kai of Exo, Taeyong and Mark of NCT 127 and Lucas and Ten of WayV.

According to SM Entertainment, the M of SuperM stands for “Matrix & Master,” meaning that SuperM will be a “leading group of stars that will give ‘super’ energy to their fans.”

The group is the product of a collaboration between Lee Soo-man, the head and mastermind of Korea’s biggest entertainment agency, SM Entertainment, and U.S. music label Capitol Music Group, created in 2019.
