G-Dragon's artwork pulled from auction by owner
G-Dragon’s painting “Youth is Flower” has dropped out of Seoul Auction’s Contemporary Art Sale, the local auction house said Friday.
The marker and spray paint art piece was initially supposed to be auctioned off at a starting price of 30 million won ($22,270) the same day, but the anonymous owner recently requested that it be taken down.
The auction house said that it didn’t receive a specific reason behind the owner's decision not to sell.
G-Dragon’s agency, Galaxy Corporation, told local press that the artist was not responsible for submitting the painting and that he and the agency were unaware of the owner’s identity. Both parties are also not responsible for asking that the painting to be removed from the auction.
It is the first time a G-Dragon painting has appeared for auction. It has been displayed at Seoul Auction’s Gangnam Center in southern Seoul since earlier this month.
“Youth is Flower” was created in 2017 and is noted for depicting the Big Bang member's signature daisy character.
