INFORMATION

Kim Sejeong debuted in 2016 as a member of project girl group I.O.I after coming in second place on cable network Mnet's idol audition program "Produce 101" (2016–17). She also spent time as part of Jellyfish Entertainment's girl group gugudan from 2016 to 2020.

She also dropped her first solo track "Flower Way" in 2016. The track, produced by singer-songwriter and producer Zico, landed No. 1 on Melon and other Korean streaming services' real-time charts upon its release. Since then, she has focused on acting, starring in shows such as OCN's "The Uncanny Counter" (2020–21) and SBS's "A Business Proposal" (2022). Sejeong most recently starred in the second season of "The Uncanny Counter" which aired from July 29 to Sept. 3, 2023.

Sejeong's latest album is her first full-length album "The Door," which dropped on Sept. 4, 2023, almost two and a half years since her second EP "I'm" released back in March 2021.

"The Door" is filled with 11 songs, all written and hand-picked by Sejeong.

"I’ve sung a lot of bright and sentimental songs as a solo artist, but this is very daring, strong and filled with stories that I wanted to convey myself," Sejeong said during a press showcase held ahead of the album release.

“Instead of having one solid color throughout the entire album, I really wanted to prove to people how colorful I can be,” she explained. “When I’m preparing for my solo tracks, I’ve always tried my best to listen to as many people as possible. But this time, as my first full-length solo album, an album that I’m releasing seven years after my debut, I’ve tried to be more daring, tried to be more confident. I specifically chose which songs to include and where to place them in the album.”
