INFORMATION

Girl group STAYC debuted in November 2020 with the single “Star To A Young Culture” under Highup Entertainment, founded by star composer duo B.E.P. The duo also serves as STAYC’s producers.

It consists of six members: Sumin, Sieun, Isa, Seeun, Yoon and J.

After the sleeper hit of its 2021 song “ASAP,” The girl group earned the moniker “miracle from a small agency” for its commercial success.

In November 2022, STAYC made its Japanese debut with the single “Poppy.”

The group’s fandom is dubbed Swith, which can stand for “Stay With,” “STAYC With,” and “Sweet.”

Why is STAYC called a “miracle from a small agency”?

STAYC’s agency Highup Entertainment is a small agency founded in 2017 by composer duo B.E.P. STAYC is currently the only artist under the agency.

In the K-pop industry, coming from a large agency with a long history is considered to play an important role in a group’s success. A large agency, such as the big four — SM, YG, JYP and HYBE — is associated with abundant financial support and the halo effect of successful artists under the same agency. Lacking these resources, STAYC saw lukewarm reactions until its 2021 song “ASAP” became a sleeper hit. Thanks to its high-quality music and talented members, STAYC earned the moniker “miracle from a small agency.”

Who is Sieun from STAYC’s father?

Sieun’s father is the famous 80s dance singer Park Nam-jung. Due to her father’s fame, Sieun has frequently appeared on television shows since the 2000s and started her career as a child actor. She pivoted to her dreams of becoming a K-pop idol in 2017, joining JYP Entertainment, where she trained until 2019 before moving to Highup Entertainment.
