2NE1 announces 15th anniversary concert in Seoul
Veteran girl group 2NE1 is holding a concert to celebrate the 15th anniversary of its debut in October, YG Entertainment head producer Yang Hyun-suk said Monday.
The concert will take place in Seoul, Yang said in a video uploaded on YG Entertainment's YouTube channel, detailing the agency’s plans for the second half of the year and next year. The producer stated that additional venues in Tokyo and Osaka are already booked for performances in November and December, respectively.
Yang also said that schedules for more performances are being adjusted and that 2NE1 will continue its global tour into next year.
No specific dates or venues for the tour were revealed as of Monday.
“I think this concert will be quite special,” said Yang. “It resonates with those who grew up with 2NE1’s music, sharing those memories."
Rumors of 2NE1’s return have been circulating ever since Yang met with the members of the girl group on June 27 at the new YG headquarters building in Mapo District, western Seoul. It was the first official reunion between the two parties in eight years.
Since its debut with the single “Fire” in 2009, 2NE1 has released numerous hits such as "I Don't Care" (2010), “I Am the Best” (2011), "Lonely" (2011), "I Love You" (2012), "Missing You" (2013) and “Come Back Home” (2014), earning widespread acclaim.
