[CELEB] Davichi's 'Season Note' is teased ahead of Monday release
As cherry blossoms die and the scenery turns green, pop ballad duo Davichi is marking the fleeting period between spring and summer with its EP “Season Note,” set to drop on Monday at 6 p.m.
Ahead of its release, agency Wakeone Entertainment released a music video teaser for the EP's lead track “Fanfare” on Friday.
The 50-second clip featured Davichi’s two singers, Kang Minkyung, 32, and Lee Haeri, 37, in a train compartment, seemingly happy to go on a trip.
Combining funk and disco with an emphasis on brass, “Fanfare” is a bright song with an arrangement that aims to capture the sunny vibe between spring and summer.
The lyrics of “Fanfare” describe the moment a person gets ready to fully open her heart to a lover. “Play the fanfare on an especially sunny day," goes the part released in the teaser. "Greet me with excitement when I run into your arms. The story of you and me will begin.”
“It's a song about love in full bloom,” said Kang in a clip on Davichi’s official website for the upcoming EP on May 11. “The rhythm was so good that I was excited the entire time recording it.” In the same video, Lee said, “If you are in love, it is a song that will fit with any season.”
According to Wakeone, "Season Note" showcases Davichi's wide music spectrum with genres and themes the duo has not done before. In addition to “Fanfare,” the EP features five other tracks: “Sandcastle,” “Let’s Leave Just the Two of Us,” “You Know That Day When it is Especially Tiring,” “My First Love” and “Just Hug Me.”
"Season Note" is the duo’s first release in five months. Davichi’s last release was "Everyday Christmas," a Christmas-themed EP, last December.
Since early May, Davichi’s two members have made headlines with Covid-19 and a marriage announcement.
On May 6, Kang tested positive for Covid-19, al though she was inoculated. After undergoing treatment at home, she fully recovered and was released from quarantine on Saturday.
On May 11, Lee announced that she will be marrying a non-celebrity in July. Along with the announcement, the singer assured her fans that she will continue as a member of Davichi after the marriage.
