CL to perform at music festivals in Japan and U.S.

CL [VERY CHERRY]

CL is set to appear at a variety of foreign music festivals this year, according to her music label Very Cherry on Thursday.

CL will appear at “Summer Sonic” between Aug. 20 and 21, which is the largest annual music festival held in Japan during the summer. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic however, the festival was canceled for two successive years in 2020 and 2021. CL last appeared on stage for the festival in 2017, where she performed with American hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas.

She will also perform at two other festivals “Sound Money Fest” in Florida on April 9 and “We Are One Music+ Arts Festival” in Texas on May 15.

CL, whose real name is Lee Chae-rin, debuted as a member of the girl group 2NE1 in 2009 and instantly shot to fame thanks to the group’s unconventional fashion and unapologetic attitudes.

She launched her solo career in 2013 and has consistently been active around the globe, even after the group disbanded in 2016. She left her former agency YG Entertainment in 2019 and founded her own music label Very Cherry the following year. The artist dropped her first solo full-length album since her 2009 debut, “Alpha,” on Oct. 20, 2021.
