Disney+’s original Korean drama 'Big Bet' earns rave reviews
Disney+’s original Korean drama series “Big Bet” opened the new year with strong results, ranking first on multiple streaming service aggregators and raking in good reviews, the streaming sercvie said Tuesday.
“Big Bet” achieved the highest IMDB score — 8.4 — among domestic streaming service series as of Tuesday, garnering rave reviews for the four episodes released so far, according to Disney+.
“Big Bet” is led by veteran actor Choi Min-sik, who is venturing into the streaming service market for the first time in his career. Choi is a household name within Korea for his many leading roles in film and television. This also marks his first television role in 25 years.
“Big Bet” beat other Korean dramas released on streaming services around the same time, including Netflix’s “The Glory” and Tving and Amazon Prime Video’s “Island.” “The Glory” garnered an 8.1 rating on IMBD, while “Island” garnered 6.8.
“Big Bet” also features actor Son Seok-goo, who previously starred in “My Liberation Notes” (2022) and “The Roundup” (2022).
