Actors Jeon Do-yeon and Jung Kyung-ho will star in an upcoming tvN drama series “One Shot Scandal” (translated).

The production company Studio Dragon confirmed Tuesday that the two stars will take the lead roles of tvN’s new romantic comedy series that revolves around a former athlete who became the owner of a banchan (assorted small dishes) shop. She belatedly joins Korea’s education fervor to study for the college entrance exams and encounters a top hagwon (cram school) instructor. Their bittersweet relationship starts from there. Jeon plays the banchan store owner and Jung plays the hagwon instructor.

The screenplay was written by Yang Hee-seung, who was behind hit drama series “A Familiar Wife” (2018) and “Once Again” (2020). Director Yoo Jae-won of “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” (2021) will be taking the helm.

“The series itself will be a light-hearted romantic comedy, but actors Jeon Do-yeon and Jung Kyung-ho will absolutely captivate the viewers, telling this typical story of the war of Korea’s college entrance exams in a very interesting and immersive way,” said the production team in a statement.

Jeon, 49, is a veteran actor. She won Best Actress at the 60th Cannes Film Festival in 2007, becoming the first Korean actor to win an award at a prestigious film festival. Her acting debut was with television series "Our Heaven" in 1992.

Jung is well known for his leading roles in "Prison Playbook" (2017-18) and "Hospital Playlist" (2020-22). Jung debuted after auditioning at a KBS actors' audition in 2003. He has been dating Choi Soo-young of Girls' Generation since 2013.
