Taeyeon’s title track from 'INVU' tops Gaon Chart for two consecutive weeks
Taeyeon’s title track from her newest full-length album “INVU” topped the Gaon Chart for two consecutive weeks, the local album sales tracker said Thursday.
After “INVU” was released on Feb. 14, the title track was No. 1 on the Digital Chart for the week of Feb. 13.
In the week of Feb. 20, “INVU” remained in the top spot on the Digital Chart and earned the same spot on the Streaming Chart as well, a rank higher than the previous week.
The Digital Chart accumulates the sales of streams, downloads and the song's use as background music. The Streaming Chart calculates the number of times the song has been streamed.
Immediately after its release, "INVU" topped the iTunes charts in 21 regions including Canada, Sweden, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, Taiwan, Brazil, Mexico, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
“INVU” also received Platinum Album status on the Chinese digital album sales chart QQ a day after the album’s release, which is given to albums that surpass 1 million yuan ($157,400) in sales.
The album consists of 13 tracks. “INVU” means “I envy you,” which is said toward a significant other who does not take love seriously.
Taeyeon debuted as a member of girl group Girls’ Generation in 2007 with the EP “Into the New World.” The group remains a legendary figure in K-pop thanks to its iconic hits such as "Genie" (2009), "Run Devil Run" (2010), "The Boys" (2011) and "I Got a Boy" (2013).
