Actor Lee You-mi named on '2022 Next Generation Leaders' list by Time

Lee You-mi [TIME]

Actor Lee You-mi was named as one of the “2022 Next Generation Leaders” by Time magazine. She is the sole Korean actor to make it to the list.

Time highlighted the fact that Lee became the first Korean woman to win an Emmy for her acting in Netflix’s “Squid Game” (2021). She was awarded Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her scene-stealing performance at this year’s Creative Arts Primetime Emmy Awards.

“The global recognition further strengthened my mindset, that no matter how things change around me, I should remain who I am,” Lee said in an article in Time titled “Squid Game Made Her a Star. Now Lee You-mi Is Forging Her Own Path.”

Lee is currently starring in her very first lead role in television in tvN drama series “Mental Coach Jegal,” where she portrays a world-champion short-track speed skater struggling to recover from a slump.

The actor is expected to star in another lead role in upcoming drama series “Strong Woman Kang Nam-soon,” a spinoff series from JTBC series “Strong Woman Do Bong-soon” (2017). On what streaming service or channel it will air has not been decided yet.
