Actor Yim Si-wan will guest host 'SNL Korea'
Actor Yim Si-wan will open up the fifth season of Coupang Play’s hit comedy “SNL Korea,” the streaming service said Friday.
“SNL Korea” is the Korean version of the popular American comedy show “Saturday Night Live.”
Yim will be the first guest host of the fifth season, the release date of which has not yet been disclosed.
“It’s an honor to be the first guest host for the new season,” Yim said in a news release. “I received major love from my character Jang Byeong-tae of ‘Boyhood’ (2023), becoming one of the best characters that I have ever played.”
“I’ll show off all the comedian acts I have, which I portrayed in ‘Boyhood,’ on the new season of the show.”
The latest season of SNL Korea ended last September and was hosted by guest stars such as actors Han Ye-ri, Jung Woo-sung and Daniel Henney.
Yim, who debuted as a member of the boy band ZE:A in 2010, rose to prominence for his acting roles in such hit TV shows as MBC's “Triangle” (2014) and tvN's “Misaeng” (2014). He recently appeared in Coupang Play’s original comedy series “Boyhood,” which finished on Dec. 22, and garnered major attention for his comedy act in the series. The actor was also reported to have been cast in the second season of Netflix’s “Squid Game” last year.
