BabyMonster to release first full-length album in October
Girl group BabyMonster will drop its first full-length album around October, according to Yang Hyun-suk, chief producer of the group's agency, YG Entertainment.
Yang detailed the plans for BabyMonster and boy band Treasure in a video uploaded on the agency's YouTube channel on Monday.
“BabyMonster’s album will definitely be released around October,” said Yang. “BabyMonster will also drop a new single from the album in early July prior to the album’s release.”
The performance video for BabyMonster’s “Like That” song will also be released in May, he said. The song was written by U.S. singer-songwriter Charlie Puth.
BabyMonster dropped its first EP, "BABYMONS7ER," on April 1. The album hit number 8 on the Melon Top 100, selling more than 400,000 records in its first week of release. The music video for the lead track from the album, “Sheesh,” has been viewed 222 million times on YouTube as of Monday.
Boy band Treasure will also release an album in autumn, although Yang did not specify the date. “I promise you that the agency will do its best on Treasure’s album dropping in the fall,” he said.
Treasure's new single, "King Kong," will drop on May 28. The band is currently on its second Asia tour titled "Reboot.” It will perform in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta from May 23 to June 30 over seven dates.
