The webnovel “Omniscient Reader” will come to life as a film, distributor Lotte Entertainment said Wednesday. The cast will include Lee Min-ho, Ahn Hyo-seop and Blackpink’s Jisoo.

The fantasy film “Omniscient Reader,” based on the webnovel by singNsong, started shooting after a cast reading session in December, according to its distributor.

The film will be directed by Kim Byung-woo, who headed the films “The Terror Live” (2013) and “Take Point” (2018) featuring Lee, Ahn, Chae Soo-bin, Shin Seung-ho, Park Ho-san, Afterschool’s Nana and Blackpink’s Jisoo.

The film centers around office worker Kim Dok-ja, whose reality suddenly mirrors a novel he recently read. Dok-ja, being the only person who knows how the world will end, embarks on a journey to change the course of the novel's story and save the world.

The webnovel “Omniscient Reader” was first published in 2018 on the platform Munpia and was later adapted into a Naver webtoon. The work garnered major popularity, surpassing 200 million views on platform Naver Series and averaging a 9.9 rating.
