Boy band Treasure launches match campaign supporting children, teens
Boy band Treasure and its agency YG Entertainment on Wednesday launched a donation campaign to support children and teenagers in need.
The campaign will be held on Naver’s donation platform Happybean and will run until the end of January, the agency said.
There are eight funding categories, including education, medical needs and arts. The campaign will follow a double donation format, where the participating company matches the amount of money an online donor gives.
The band and its agency aim to raise a total of 60 million won ($45,920) through the campaign, the company said in a press release.
“We hope that children and teenagers can grow up in an environment where they can dream and experience as much as they want,” Treasure said in the release. "We hope that our assistance can enable them to take a step forward. We support the children’s bright future.”
Treasure debuted in February 2020 as the fourth boy band from YG Entertainment. The band debuted through a JTBC2 audition program, titled "YG Treasure Box," in 2018.
Treasure originally debuted as a 12-member boy band but currently consists of 10 members: Choi Hyun-suk, Jihoon, Yoshi, Junkyu, Yoon Jae-hyuk, Asahi, Haruto, Doyoung, Park Jeong-woo and So Jung-hwan. Members Mashiho and Bang Ye-dam left the band in November 2022.
The band released songs such as "Boy" (2020), "I Love You" (2020), "JIKJIN" (2022), "Darari" (2022), "Hello" (2022) and "Bona Bona" (2023). Its latest single "B.O.M.B" was released on Oct. 20, 2023.
