Director Choi Dong-hoon’s upcoming film “Alienoid Part 1" will be released on July 20, according to its distributor CJ ENM on Monday.

The science fiction action fantasy features a star-studded cast including actors Kim Tae-ri, Kim Woo-bin, So Ji-seob, Ryu Jun-yeol, Yum Jung-ah, Kim Eui-eung, Lee Ha-nee and Jo Woo-jin.

“Alienoid” centers around gurus in the late Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392) who try to obtain a fabled holy sword, and humans in 2022 who are hunting down an alien prisoner locked in a human’s body. The two parties cross paths when a time-travelling portal opens up.

This Choi’s first film in seven years. The director is known for films “The Thieves” (2012) and “Assassination” (2015), two films that garnered over 10 million movie tickets, a milestone of commercial success in Korean cinema.

“Alienoid Part 2” has already finished filming.
