Broadcaster-turned-composer Jung Da-eun is under investigation in relation to actor Lee Sun-kyun’s alleged drug use, Incheon Police Agency said Wednesday.

The police say they received a tipoff that Lee and multiple others used illegal drugs last month at an establishment in Gangnam District, southern Seoul.

Jung’s name was mentioned in the tipoff, but the details of the composer’s alleged drug use have not been revealed.

Jung is reportedly a close acquaintance of another individual being investigated in the same case, an aspiring singer. Jung had been previously sentenced to prison for drug use in 2016 and 2021.

A case on Lee was opened as the actor is suspected of using marijuana and psychoactive drugs Tuesday after being booked for questioning the previous day by Incheon Police Agency. Lee has filed a lawsuit against a manager of a nightclub in Gangnam, alleging that the manager blackmailed him, the police and Lee’s legal representatives said.

Lee debuted in 2001 through an MBC sitcom and has played leading roles in many acclaimed films and shows, including the Oscar-winning 2019 film “Parasite.” He is set to appear in two upcoming films and TV shows, including “Project Silence,” “The Land of Happiness” and the second season of “Dr. Brain.”

One of the dramas that Lee was set to appear in, “No Way Out,” reportedly dropped him from the initial cast after news broke of his involvement in the drug investigation.

Jung made television appearances on multiple talk shows as a celebrity look-alike and has been closely acquainted with celebrities, including the aspiring singer also implicated in the drug case.
