'Dream Concert' to take place on Oct. 19
The longest-running K-pop concert franchise, "Dream Concert," will take place on Oct. 19 and celebrate its 30th anniversary this year.
Co-hosted by the Korea Entertainment Producers’ Association (KEPA), Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and Goyang City, this year's concert will be held at Goyang Stadium in Gyeonggi, KEPA announced on Wednesday.
The lineup for this year's concert was not revealed on Wednesday.
Dream Concert is holding two polls leading up to the event.
"Dream Rookie" invites fans to vote for the year's best rookie, who will get a chance to perform overseas. Fans can vote from June 17 to Sept. 26 through the K-pop Seoul app.
Another fan vote began on Monday to choose the best "Dream Concert" star out of the artists who have performed at the event since it began 30 years ago. The winning artist will perform a "Special Stage" during the event, according to KEPA. Ballots will be open until Aug. 29 on Thekking app.
"Dream Concert" has been taking place every year since 1995. The concerts for 2020 and 2021 were held online due to Covid-19.
"Dream Concert" has been a gateway to numerous K-pop artists, bringing together top artists such as TVXQ!, Super Junior, Girls' Generation, EXO, BTS, NCT, Seventeen, aespa and IVE.
Over the past 30 years, approximately 1.98 million people have attended the event, according to KEPA.
"'Dream Concert' is not only the longest-running K-pop performance in the country, but also a cultural symbol that encapsulates the history of K-pop from the 1990s, when it was in its infancy, to its current status as global mainstream content," said KEPA president Im Baek-woon in a press release.
