IVE is a six-member girl group that debuted in 2021 under Starship Entertainment and is one of the biggest rookie girl groups that have been leading the K-pop scene since day one.
The name IVE, a contraction for "I have," means that the members will confidently flaunt all they have. The group also invites the fans to "Dive into IVE," as shown through the slogan they shout before every performance.
All its lead songs, "Eleven" (2021), "Love Dive" (2022) and "After Like" (2022), have topped local charts so far, and IVE became the third K-pop girl group to sell over a million album copies with "After LIKE" in September 2022.
IVE released its first full-length album "I've IVE" in April 2023, with lead track "I AM." The album sold 1.1 million copies in the first week of its release, making IVE the third girl group to sell more than a million albums in the first week of its release.
IVE broke the record again with its first EP "I'VE MINE," released on Oct. 13, 2023, which sold 1.6 million copies in the first week of its release, making it the third most-sold girl group album of all time in Korea.
The band was named the rookie of the year in numerous award ceremonies in Korea, including the Golden Disc Awards, the Melon Music Awards and the Mnet Asian Music Awards.
Is IVE famous?
Yes. IVE is among the most successful girl groups, not just among the newly-debuted bands but all female bands in K-pop.
Much of the early-stage success is credited to two of its members — Jang Won-young and An Yu-jin — who were the finalists of the third season of Mnet's audition show "Produce 101" and debuted through IZ*ONE, securing themselves a loyal fandom that followed them to their new group IVE when it was officially launched in December 2021.
The high quality of the group's songs and performance helped maintain and grow that popularity. IVE's "Love Dive" was the most streamed and downloaded Korean song domestically and globally in 2022, according to Circle Chart. (2022.03.14)

Did IVE win the rookie of the year awards?
Yes. In fact, the band was named the rookie of the year in Korea's biggest music awards, including the 2021 Hanteo Music Awards, The Fact Music Awards in 2022 and the 37th Golden Disc Awards. Because its debut came close to the end of 2022, IVE wasn't eligible for many of the award ceremonies that usually take place in December in early January. (2023.03.14)
Did IVE copy “I Will Survive”?
IVE did not copy Gloria Gaynor's 1978 hit "I Will Survive" but used a musical technique called "Sampling." In the simplest sense, sampling refers to taking part or element from an existing piece of music. Songwriters work from the sample to make their own creations, inserting the sample into various parts of their new song or repeating the part to make a new beat. Girl group Blackpink also sampled a part of the famed classical music "La Campanella" by Niccolo Paganini for its dance track "Shut Down." (2022.11.07)
