Five Korean films scored nominations by the Asian Film Awards (AFA).

The AFA is run by the Asia Film Awards Academy (AFAA), which the Hong Kong International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival and Tokyo International Film Festival joined forces to set up in 2013.

Thirty works from 22 Asian nations were nominated, including Korean films “Decision to Leave,” “Broker,” “Emergency Declaration,” “Alienoid” and “The Apartment with Two Women.”

All 16 categories had Korean nominees. “Decision to Leave” is contending in 10 categories, the most for any film this year: best film, best director, best screenplay, best actor, best actress, best cinematography, best editing, best original music, best production design and best sound.

Actors Yim Si-wan and Kim So-jin are nominated for best actor and best actress; Director Kim Se-in of “The Apartment with Two Women” (2021) for best new director; and actor Lee Ji-eun (also known as IU in her singing career) for best new actor.
