Lee Sun-kyun admits to taking illegal drugs 'unknowingly'
Actor Lee Sun-kyun admitted to taking illegal drugs but stressed that he took them "unknowingly" after they were given to him by the manager of an adult entertainment establishment, according to law officials Sunday.
Lee, who appeared for questioning at the Incheon Nonhyun Police Station on Saturday regarding his alleged marijuana and psychotropic drug use, said that he was “deceived” by the unnamed 29-year-old female manager.
“[The manager] lied to me and gave me something,” Lee said, adding, “I didn’t know it was drugs.”
On Saturday, Lee finished three hours of investigation and told the press afterward that he “answered many questions sincerely and truthfully.”
The police also said that Lee’s hair samples that were sent to the National Forensic Service for a more detailed analysis came out negative. Late last month, however, they had found evidence related to drug use through digital forensics on Lee’s mobile phone.
Lee is accused of taking various types of illegal drugs at the manager’s home since early this year.
The police discovered Lee’s involvement in the drugs that were being circulated at a membership-only entertainment establishment in Gangnam District, southern Seoul, after initially investigating the manager for allegations of drug circulation at the establishment. The establishment in question, which Lee is known to have frequented, is operated for members only of high-income classes and celebrities.
A total of 10 people, including Lee and singer G-Dragon, are being investigated by the Incheon Police Agency for drug use.
The police are set to summon Lee back for a third round of investigation soon.
