Marvel star Claudia Kim announces divorce from Matthew Shampine after five-year marriage

Actor Claudia Kim has ended her five-year marriage with former WeWork Korea general manager Matthew Shampine, the actor announced on Monday.

“After careful discussion, Kim decided to end her marriage and has completed the mutual divorce process through an amicable agreement,” her agency, YG Entertainment, said on Monday.


"Although the two have chosen to go their separate ways, they will continue to support each other. Since this decision was made after long contemplation and thorough conversation, we kindly ask you to refrain from making any malicious comments or speculation.”

The couple first confirmed their relationship in August 2019 and married in December of the same year. Kim gave birth to a daughter in September 2020.

Shampine, also known by his Korean name Cha Min-geun, was adopted by an American family at a young age. He is one of the founding members of WeWork.

Kim debuted as an actor in 2006 and gained Hollywood recognition after appearing in the Marvel film “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (2015). She also portrayed “Nagini in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” (2018).

The actor recently appeared in JTBC’s series “The Atypical Family,” which concluded in June. She is also slated to feature in the film “A Normal Family,” which was invited to the 48th Toronto International Film Festival. The film will hit local theaters on Oct. 9.
