Nah Youn-sun to perform during annual UN jazz concert

Singer Nah Youn-sun [NPLUG]

Jazz singer Nah Youn-sun, 52, will perform John Lennon's "Imagine" (1971) during the annual jazz concert hosted by the United Nations (UN) in New York on April 30, according to Nah's entertainment agency Nplug on Thursday.

"As the last song in the upcoming concert, John Lennon's 'Imagine' will be the highlight of the show," said Nplug in a statement. "All the artists who participated in the event will take part in the performance. Nah's participation in the song will be especially meaningful as she will be singing the song in Korean."

The "International Jazz Day: All-Star Global Concert" will be held at the UN General Assembly Hall.

Some 30 other jazz performers from around the world will be participating in the upcoming concert including singer Gregory Porter from Senegal; Joey Alexander from Indonesia; and Tarek Yamani from Lebanon.

The concert will be livestreamed worldwide on Unesco's website, YouTube, Facebook, jazzday.com and UN Web TV.

Nah debuted as a musical theater actor in 1994 through a show called "Subway line No. 1" (translated). She released her first album "Reflets" in 2001. Nah is best known for the album "Same Girl" (2010) which received a Gold Disc Award and Jazz Academy Award in France, an Echo Jazz Award in Germany and a Korean Music Award in Korea.

April 30 is the official International Jazz Day set by Unesco in 2011 to mark "the importance of jazz as a means of achieving unity and peace through dialogue and diplomacy."
