Nana and Jisoo in talks for screen adaptation of 'Omniscient Reader'

Actor Nana and Blackpink’s Jisoo are in talks to appear in the screen adaptation of “Omniscient Reader,” a hit web novel series.

Nana’s agency, Pledis Entertainment, confirmed to the Korea JoongAng Daily on Wednesday that the actor has been cast for a role in the upcoming screen adaptation of “Omniscient Reader.” Jisoo’s agency, YG Entertainment, also said they “have received an offer for the adaptation and are positively reviewing the matter.”

“Omniscient Reader” is a web novel series serialized on the platform Munpia between January 2018 and February 2020. A spinoff web novel based on the series has been released on Naver Series since February.

The web novel series surrounds a novel reader whose reality gets engulfed by the novel's settings and becomes a character in the story that he was reading. “Omniscient Reader” was one of the most popular web novels on Munpia and has been adapted into a webtoon series on Naver Webtoon.

Nana debuted as a member of the girl group After School in 2009 and has been active in the subunits of Orange Caramel and After School Red. She has starred in various television dramas such as “Love Weaves Through a Millennium” (2015), “The Good Wife” (2016) and “Justice” (2019).

Jisoo debuted as a member of the girl group Blackpink in 2016. The quartet recently completed its second world tour, “Born Pink.” Jisoo has also been active as an actor, appearing in “The Producers” (2015) and “Snowdrop” (2021-2022).
