Over 600 films submitted to international category for this year's JIFF
Six-hundred and four films from 83 countries were entered into the International Competition section of the 24th Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF,) the organizing committee of the festival announced Thursday.
This is the largest number of films ever submitted to the International Competition section of JIFF, according to the organizing committee. Four-hundred and ninety-one films from 75 countries were submitted for JIFF last year, while 398 films from 68 countries were submitted in 2021.
Among the entries this year, feature films took up the largest portion with 357 films, followed by documentaries at 188, experimental films at 30, six animation films and 23 others in miscellaneous categories.
In particular, entries in the documentary genre increased by 20 on year.
By country, east Asian entries were most common, with 52 films from China and 46 from Japan. Italy also entered 39 films into the International Competition section.
The 24th JIFF will be held in Jeonju for 10 days from April 27 to May 6.
