'Thunderous rainfall': Singer Psy stops 'Summer Swag' concert mid-performance due to extreme weather
Singer Psy stopped the Gwacheon edition of his annual water festival and concert "Summer Swag" mid-performance on Saturday night due to torrential rain, his agency P Nation said Sunday.
The concert, which began at around 6 p.m. at the Seoul Grand Park in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi, stopped an hour into the event due to worsening weather conditions in the region. Strong wind gusts and rain caused some of the lights to break and fall onto the stage. All visitors were evacuated for safety, reports said.
"Thunderous rainfall and wind — It wasn't something that I had experienced nor could have foreseen," Psy wrote on Instagram on Sunday.
"The most important thing at that moment is the safety of the staff and the audience. I cannot fully describe how grateful I am for everyone who reacted calmly to the situation."
Psy promised to either refund tickets or hold another makeup concert, depending on the audience's wishes. Refunds will be made through the ticket sellers, according to P Nation.
Another "Summer Swag 2024" concert will be held Sunday at the same venue in Gwacheon.
This year's "Summer Swag" began on June 29 in Wonju, Gangwon, followed by Gwangju and Daegu earlier this month. The next performances will be held in Daejeon on July 27 and 28, Gangwon's Sokcho on Aug. 3, Busan on Aug. 10 and 11, Incheon on Aug. 17 and 18 and Suwon, Gyeonggi, on Aug. 24 and 25.
