Girl group Kep1er debuted in January 2022 with its first EP, "First Impact," under Wakeone Entertainment and Swing Entertainment. It consists of nine members: Yujin, Chaehyun, Dayeon, Youngeun, Yeseo, Xiaoting, Mashiro, Hikaru and Huening Bahiyyih.
The group's members were the top nine finalists of Mnet's audition show "Girls Planet 999: The Girls Saga" (2021). The group's name was inspired by the show's space theme and the German astronomer Johannes Kepler.
Its debut EP, "First Impact" (2022), sold over 200,000 copies in the first week of its release, setting the highest record for a debuting K-pop girl group.
Kep1er won a dozen awards in the first year of its debut, including the Favorite New Artist at the 2022 Mnet Asian Music Awards and a Special Award at the 64th Japan Record Awards. It also won the New Wave Star at the Seoul Music Awards in 2023.
The girl group's fandom is named Kep1ian.
