'Queendom Puzzle' K-pop competition show by Mnet is in the works
Cable channel Mnet will air a sequel to "Queendom" (2019), a music competition show for leading K-pop girl groups, within the first half of this year.
Mnet confirmed with the Korea JoongAng Daily on Thursday that the upcoming series, titled "Queendom Puzzle" is in the works, but did not give further details.
“Queendom” is a series of survival program shows, where girl groups and female artists compete by releasing songs at the same time. Participating groups were able to showcase never-before-seen sides of their members to the audience by covering songs of other idols and releasing songs with styles they may not normally attempt.
“Queendom” (2019) featured girl groups such as Lovelyz, Mamamoo and (G)I-DLE, and “Queendom 2” (2022) featured girl groups including Kep1er, Viviz, Loona and WJSN.
Mnet also made counterpart show for boy groups, “Road to Kingdom” (2020) and “Kingdom” (2021).
