Blackpink’s Lisa lands her fourth modeling job in China this year
Lisa of girl group Blackpink landed her fourth commercial in China this year, modeling for Chinese mobile manufacturer Vivo's S7.
Lisa, a 23-year-old Thai member of Blackpink and also the first non-Korean idol to debut under YG Entertainment, finished filming the advertisement for Vivo on Aug. 9, and photographed ads are already being printed across China, according to her agency.
Lisa has already shot ads for a fabric softener, a yogurt drink and a game this year — an astonishing achievement considering how Korean stars are still struggling to overcome the frosty diplomatic relations between China and Korea.
Lisa gained popularity when she took part in the Chinese audition program "Qing Chun You Ni" this year as the dance mentor, which aired through Chinese video platform iQIYI.
"Lisa is getting calls from diverse sectors of business in China and she will likely take over many more commercials in the future," the agency said.
Blackpink as a whole is also enjoying popularity in China.
According to social media Weibo's weekly analysis of global stars' popularity, all members of Blackpink have stolen the hearts of the Chinese public — especially after the release of the hit "How You Like That" in June.
Lisa topped Weibo's Asia Topstar Ranking for the 12th week, while Jisoo topped the Hallyu Ranking for the seventh week and was followed by members Jennie and Rosé in the second and third spot.
"Blackpink stole the hearts of the world with its June single 'How You Like That,' and China is no exception," said YG Entertainment.
"The song topped China's biggest music chart QQ Music upon release and the members of Blackpink took all the hot and trending search results on Weibo."
Blackpink is set to release another single on Aug. 28, as well as a full-length album on Oct. 2.
